Carling

Did you know that Carling lager is Red Tractor assured? Made with 100% British barley, every grain is fully traceable back to UK farms that uphold rigorous standards. Our team took a trip to Burton-on-Trent, the proud home of the Carling brewery to find out more.

Carling sources barley from the Molson Coors Growers Group – a UK-based network of barley farmers who partners directly with Molson Coors to supply high-quality malting barley. Red Tractor’s Traceability Programme means that every grain can be traced back to where it was produced, ensuring that it meets high standards of food safety and responsible production.

The Molson Coors Growers Group, established in 2008, shares advice, data, and insights to help producers take steps to improve the sustainability of their farming practices, while guaranteeing a regular supply of top-quality malting barley. The growers benefit from flexible contract options and market security by signing multi-year deals with Molson Coors to supply its malting barley, as well as joining a community of knowledge and insight. There are now over 130 Molson Coors Growers across the UK, and that number itself is growing!

Carling performs numerous quality checks throughout its brewing process. They maintain a core focus on ensuring every pint is brewed to the same consistently high standard. That’s quite a feat considering that Carling produce over 1.4m pints every day!

Watch our ‘Grain to Glass’ video to meet the Rowles family, proud Red Tractor farmers, and see how Tony, a Red Tractor Traceability Assessor carried out his checks at the brewery.
