Red Tractor reveals widespread support of the logo

Over half of the respondents surveyed (56%) said that when eating out, they look out for a symbol which demonstrates that the food has been produced to good standards of farming and food production, as well as a sign of origin.

When it comes to cooking and eating out, over a third of the shoppers surveyed like to know where their ingredients come from and prefer to source UK ingredients.

Richard Cattell, Head of Marketing at Red Tractor which studied 2080 British families said;

“The Red Tractor logo shows that food is produced to good standards of farming and food production and covers everything from food safety to environment and animal welfare.  This survey reveals that shoppers not only look out for a logo which represents quality, but over half of those surveyed (56%) said that when eating out, they would like to see the Red Tractor logo to demonstrate the food has been produced to good standards of farming and food production and as a guarantee of origin.”

“Consumers want a guarantee, both in and out of the home that the food they are eating meets good standards and the Red Tractor logo provides an easy shortcut to quality.”

The survey also revealed that UK mothers consider the visit of a Royal guest at dinner time and a shopping basket full of UK grown produce to be the ultimate dinner party wish list.  The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge topped the poll as favourite dinner guest, whilst Jamie Oliver is considered the most inspiring of celebrity chefs in the UK.

Launching 24th September, Red Tractor Week will be showcasing what the logo means to consumers and explaininghow it provides the shopper with a shortcut to affordable, quality food and drink, covering everything from food safety, environmental protection, animal welfare as well as origin.

Red Tractor Week has received full backing and support from the industry.  Supermarkets, Brands, Wholesalers, Contract Caterers and Restaurant and Pub chains are all showing their support through in-store activity and promotions, social media and blogging, exclusive Red Tractor assured recipes, behind the logo case studies and increasing their range of Red Tractor assured products.
