Nourishing the Nation with great British beef, Lynda Bellingham launches NFU’s “Great British Beef” campaign

The National Farmers Union (NFU) has announced the launch of its “Great British Beef” recipe campaign to celebrate delicious and nutritious British beef. Fronted by beloved celebrity and “OXO mum” Lynda Bellingham, in conjunction with The Ladies in Beef, the campaign features a variety of mouth-watering recipes alongside a series of cook-along videos as well as top competitions and expert advice on choosing cuts of beef.

Lynda Bellingham said: “I’m delighted to be launching the Great British Beef campaign. Being a farmer’s daughter, I have first-hand experience of the great work our farmers do to produce quality food. I’ve always been aware of the importance of a nutritious home cooked meal and love cooking with beef for my family – it’s exceptionally versatile and easy to prepare, providing a wealth of options to shake up the weekly dinner routine.”

Alistair Mackintosh, Chairman of NFU Livestock Board and Cumbrian beef farmer said: “I’m tremendously proud of the high quality beef we produce in this country. We want shoppers to look for the Red Tractor logo to ensure that their beef meets high standards of food safety and hygiene, animal welfare and environmental protection and the flag gives shoppers the assurance about the country of origin. By buying British beef, consumers are helping to support the UK’s rural economy and contributing to a beautiful farmed countryside.”

Minette Batters from Ladies in Beef said: “We are proud to support this initiative as we’re passionate about British beef. Our aim is to share with people the quality and versatility of British beef by raising awareness through our country-wide network of dynamic lady beef ‘champions’. British farmers really care about producing a great product and you can buy home-reared beef at the supermarket or at your local butcher. Beef is the perfect staple for any occasion whether you’re having a large gathering with family and friends or looking for a quick, simple and low cost meal option at home.”
