Elior UK Embraces Red Tractor Assurance

Elior UK showed its commitment to Red Tractor Assurance this week by hosting an awareness day for the London office employees of global law firm Baker & McKenzie at its F3 Restaurant.

Prepared by Executive Chef, Adam Davenport, Wednesday’s lunch service showed full support of the food assurance scheme with a special menu featuring a host of dishes from certified Red Tractor sources including roasted breast of chicken or topside of beef with seasonal vegetables and all the trimmings.

The event was attended by Red Tractor suppliers, Sarah Marquis of Speciality Butcher, Nigel Fredericks, and Duncan Allison of Allison Risebro who were on hand to underline the benefits of Red Tractor Assurance to Baker & McKenzie employees.

The Red Tractor is a mark of assurance that shows the food or drink product meets strict standards of food safety, environmental protection and animal welfare. The Union Flag featured in the logo highlights a guarantee of origin in the UK.

Duncan Allison of Allison Risebro, London’s leading supplier of fresh fruit and vegetables to the catering trade, says: “I was delighted to be part of the Red Tractor awareness day as it gave me a chance to demonstrate to the staff at Baker & McKenzie the importance of high quality, seasonal, local produce. For Allison Risebro, our Red Tractor licence offers a way to demonstrate to the industry that our products are produced to approved standards and are fully traceable.”

For Executive Chef, Adam Davenport, Red Tractor offers a great opportunity for the catering industry to back suppliers. He says: “Every chef wants to cook with fresh, locally sourced ingredients – it’s a no brainer. Red Tractor enables chefs to achieve this, and more importantly, reassures customers that when they see the Red Tractor mark they are consuming a first-class product. I’m looking to increase the number of Red Tractor products on our menu over the next 12 months and would encourage others to do the same.”

Giles Burton, Hospitality Manager for Elior UK, says: “Sustainable food procurement is of utmost importance to Elior. We want to ensure that the food we serve has been sourced to guarantee the highest standards of quality, welfare and sustainability, which is why we are so committed to assurance schemes such as Red Tractor.”
